ORGANISERS of a cultural event have blamed a poor turnout on posters telling people not to attend as the festival was "against Islam."
Thousands of music fans were expected to descend on Central Forest Park for one of the region's biggest mela celebrations yesterday.
The event ran from 11.30am to 7.30pm and featured well-known Bhangra and Bollywood performers, along with local singers and mainstream musicians.
A fun fair, Asian food stalls and clothes market had been set up in anticipation of the crowds, but only a few hundred turned up. Posters had been displayed telling some religious groups they were forbidden to attend. [This is Staffordshire] Read more [via The Iconoclast]
