Canadian Muslims Seek Ban On Public Wearing Of Burka

The Muslim Canadian Congress asked Ottawa on Wednesday to ban the public wearing of the burka and the niqab in Canada. The two items are Middle Eastern clothing used for covering a woman's face. Congress spokeswoman Farzana Hassan said the two garments are symbols of extremism and should not be worn in a country that supports gender equality.
