An Amsterdam court has ruled that the Roman Catholic Don Bosco College in Volendam is within its rights to ban one of its students from wearing a headscarf.
Imane Mahssan took the school to court after it ordered her to stop wearing a headscarf. The court sided with the school.
It ruled that Catholic institutions can generally make their own decisions in matters of religion, as long as they are consistent.
