Gov. Rick Scott today praised the Florida House’s passage of a bill aimed at limiting the influence of foreign law on legal decisions in Florida.
Critics have questioned whether the law is necessary _ saying there are few examples where foreign law has trumped state law.
Others call it the “anti-Sharia” bill (HB 351) and say it discriminates against Muslims who come from Islamic countries that follow a Koran-based legal code. Islamic groups, Jewish organizations and the ACLU have opposed the measure. [Herald-Tribune] Read more
