A Saudi Court of Appeals has sentenced five young men to a total of 39 years in prison and 8,000 lashes for celebrating Valentine’s Day alone with six women.
Security patrols caught and arrested the men, who admitted to dancing with the women and meeting them in private, which is prohibited by the country’s Sharia Islamic law.
One man has been sentenced to five years in prison and 1,000 lashes in a public market. Two others are to spend seven years behind bars and undergo 1,500 lashes each. The two remaining men will be imprisoned for 10 years and whipped 2,000 times in 20 batches. [Pangea Today - Al-Dostor] Read more
