A Syrian activist working to expose the atrocities of Islamic State was found beheaded in southern Turkey on Friday, in what is believed to be the terror group’s first assassination outside of its territory.
Ibrahim Abdul Qader, 20, along with his friend, Fares Hamadi, was shot and killed in the Turkish town of Urfa, 35 miles from the Syrian border. Islamic State later claimed responsibility for the killings in a video that said the pair had been targeted "after they conspired with the Crusaders against the Islamic State".
Mr Qader was a member of Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently (RBSS), a group of activists who risk their lives smuggling news from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) de facto Syrian capital of Raqqa to the outside world.
A founding member of the group, Abu Ibrahim, said the bodies were discovered early on Friday morning. [The Telegraph] Read more
