Holyrood to probe anti-Muslim hatred in Scotland

THE first inquiry into Islamophobia in Scotland is to be set up by Holyrood.

The parliament’s cross-party group on tackling the problem has teamed up with Newcastle University to assess its nature, extent and impact on children, young people and families.

It will also look at the role of traditional and social media, the public sector and politicians, and at what steps can be taken to challenge and overcome anti-Mulsim bigotry.

The CPG on Tackling Islamophobia, founded by Glasgow Labour MSP Anas Sarwar, is now seeking views from individuals, employers and organisations about their experience of the issue.
