A father is on trial for controlling his entire family because two of his eight daughters would not marry the men he had chosen for them. Salamat Khan, 63, is alleged to have cast out the daughters when they married men he did not approve of. He said they were ‘dead to the family’ and vowed to inflict what he considered a ‘traditional’ Islamic upbringing on two others who wanted to lead western lives, a crout was told.
