The small East Asian country Brunei may be more than 8,000 miles from Hollywood. But celebrities upset by a set of laws recently passed there that include the death penalty for consensual gay sex and adultery have a target nearby to point their concerns.
The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel and its equally high-end sister hotel Hotel Bel-Air are owned by Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, also the country’s prime minister. The properties are facing boycotts from the LGBT community and the stars that support it.
